Nevada Economic Development Council's purpose is to assist in the development and implementation of a plan to encourage and promote the establishment, development and retention of industrial, manufacturing, commercial and retail interests in the City of Nevada. Members are volunteers willing to improve Nevada's prosperity, standards of living, and quality of life through planning and development. The NEDC has full-time professional staff to assist existing companies with expansion and new companies interested in locating in Nevada. Staff and board work closely with the City and the Iowa Department of Economic Development in developing proposals and incentive packages, as well as marketing the community for residential, commercial and industrial growth.

The NEDC owns one commercial park, the Nevada Business Park and the West Industrial Park.
